Bishops Cove is situated on one of the most unique coastal sites in the Tsitsikamma area. Bordering the indigenous forest and a pristine and rugged coastline with its own private little beach, guests often comment that it's like having the famous Tsitsikamma Otter trail all to oneself.
Bishops Cove, which is situated on a small farm, consists of 2 spacious, architect-designed, self-catering units which can accommodate small or large groups of up to 13 guests. Furnishings are practical and very comfortable, and although accommodation is designed and fully equipped for self-catering, a bed and breakfast or a fully catered option are available by prior arrangement with management.
The Sunbird Cottage can be rented separately from the lodge. It has 2 generous en-suite bedrooms, an open-plan living area and a well-equipped kitchen which opens onto a large covered deck with amazing views. An extra bed can be provided to accommodate a fifth person.
The lodge offers 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, of which 2 are en-suite to the bedrooms. There is a large open-plan living area as well as a spacious, well-equipped kitchen. The living room opens up on 3 sides onto a covered verandah with each side having its own dramatic views of the ocean and forest.
Full DStv is available at a nominal extra fee and both units can be serviced on request. Braai and laundry facilities are also available. The on-site manager and manageress will welcome you and advise you on all the places of interest and activities in the general area.
Guests can just relax and take in the beautiful, natural surroundings and serenity, or they can enjoy an outdoor adventure. Dolphins are an almost daily sighting and whales are prolific in the winter months. Mountain bikers can make use of quiet, unpaved rural roads, passing beautiful dams, pastures, and plantations. The area is extremely safe with no security concerns.
There is a range of hiking trails to choose from, with the more leisurely trails enabling you to enjoy the magnificent ocean and mountain views. Other trails will take you into the forest or along the rugged and pristine coast where there is a good chance of seeing resident Cape clawless otter and rare Oyster Catcher birds. Other resident game includes bushbuck, steenbok, aardvark, rock hyrax, monkeys, porcupine, bush pig, caracal lynx and large-spotted genet.
